No. 02/2026) for 22 vacancies in the Assam Home Guards Services under the Home and Political Department, Government of Assam. This is a Pay Band-3 Class-I officer post with a pay scale of ₹22,000 – ₹97,000 plus Grade Pay ₹11,800 — among the most prestigious state-level officer entries available in 2026 for any graduate from Assam.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must hold a Graduate degree in any discipline from a University recognised by Government. All semester/year mark sheets and the final pass certificate must be uploaded with the application. Degrees from open / distance / correspondence universities recognised by UGC are acceptable.

Domicile Requirement:

Candidates must be Indian Citizens (as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution) and permanent residents of Assam. Either a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of Assam or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate is accepted as proof of residency.

This is a uniformed force role with strict physical and medical standards.

• Height (Male): 165 cm (UR/OBC/SC), 162 cm (ST)
• Height (Female): 157 cm (UR/OBC/SC), 152.40 cm (ST)
• Chest (Male/Female): Normal 80 cm / Expansion 85 cm (78/83 for ST Hills)
• PET 100m race: 16 seconds for males, 18 seconds for females
• PET 800m race: 3 min 45 sec for males, 4 min 45 sec for females
• Long jump: 3.5 m for males, 3.0 m for females (3 chances)
• Eye sight: Distant vision 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction
• General: No TB, high BP, diabetes, asthma, knock knees, varicose veins; no stammering

PET and Medical Tests are conducted centrally at Guwahati by SLPRB. Pregnant female candidates at the time of PET will be disqualified.

This is a Class-I officer post in Pay Band-3 with the following structure.

The selection process is rigorous and conducted in five stages.

1.Written Examination — Paper I (200 marks): General Ability and Intelligence Test in English. Topics include General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events, Indian Polity & Economy, History of India, Indian and World Geography. Objective MCQ format.

2.Written Examination — Paper II (200 marks): General Studies, Essay and Comprehension. Part A — Essay (80 marks) in Assamese or English. Part B — Comprehension, Précis and Communication (120 marks) in English only. Paper-II is evaluated only for candidates who qualify Paper-I.

3.Physical Standards Test (PST): Verification of height, chest and other prescribed physical standards.

4.Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 100m race, 800m race and long jump.

5.Medical Standards Test: Comprehensive medical fitness check.

6.Interview / Personality Test (50 marks): Conducted by APSC for shortlisted candidates.
