Educational Qualification:

• Junior Scientific Assistant (FSL): Master’s degree in the relevant science subject (such as Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science), or B.E./B.Tech in a related branch.
• Trained Graduate Teacher & Special Educator: Graduation in the relevant subject with B.Ed/relevant teaching qualification (Special Educators need RCI registration).
• I.T. Assistant / Data Processing Assistant: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science/IT, or graduation with computer knowledge.
• Fitter, Lift Operator, A/C Mechanic, Sub Station Apprentice, Electrical Overseer: ITI / Diploma in the relevant trade.
• Data Entry Operator: 12th pass with the required typing speed.

Salary depends on the post and its pay level under the 7th Pay Commission. Along with the basic pay you also get Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other benefits as per rules.

• Pay Level 7: ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400 (higher posts like Assistant Archivist Grade-I)
• Pay Level 6: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 (Trained Graduate Teachers, Technical Assistant)
• Pay Level 5: ₹29,200 – ₹92,300 (most Junior Scientific Assistant posts)
• Pay Level 2: ₹19,900 – ₹63,200 (entry-level technical posts)

Selection is based mainly on a Computer Based Test (CBT), called the One-Tier Examination. There are three exam schemes depending on the post. Before you start studying, check the latest exam syllabus and pattern to plan your preparation.

One-Tier (General) Posts:

A single CBT of 200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours, covering General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi and English (40 marks each).

One-Tier (Technical / Teaching) Posts

A CBT of 200 marks in 2 hours with two sections — Section A (100 marks) on general subjects and Section B (100 marks) on the specific subject of your post. Minimum qualifying marks apply.

Skill Test & Other Tests:

Some posts also have a Skill Test, Typing Test, Trade Test or Physical Endurance Test, as required. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in the CBT.
